What is PBIS?
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an approach to teaching and supporting positive behaviors and meeting the needs of ALL students. This school-wide approach to discipline focuses on building a safe and positive environment in which all students can learn.
The foundation of PBIS at Weston School is the three building-wide expectations:
- Be Respectful
- Be Responsible
- Be Productive
In addition to our behavior expectations, PBIS has three other components: 1) a behavior matrix which explains behavior expectations in each school setting; 2) direct teaching and modeling of the expectations; and 3) PBIS recognition slips (P.A.W.S. Slips)

What are PAWS slips?
PAWS = Positive Behaviors At Weston School
P.A.W.S. slips are awarded to students that are being responsible, respectful or productive. Everyone from bus drivers, teachers, specialists, support staff and custodians can award a student a PAWS slip.
Students keep one copy of the paws slip and the other copy goes into their class bag to be counted. A goal is set for the number of PAWS slips for the school before our next celebration. Students keep track of their PAWS slips so that they can be used at the PAWS Store.
